Paul Allen Makes the Megayacht Scene in the Maldives

The other day we noted that Paul Allen’s 303-ft. superyacht Tatoosh was causing anarchy in the UK. But the Microsoft billionaire has already moved on – he was just spotted aboard his even larger and more luxurious 416-ft. Octopus in the posh resort region of the Maldives. The Octopus, built by LĂŒrssen in 2003, is currently ranked as the world’s 12th largest yacht, just behind the Emir of Qatar’s 436-ft. Al Mirqab. Allen flew in via private jet to join the yacht as it lay anchored off Gan Island, local news services reported, and was said to have spend some R&R at a luxury resort in Alif Dhaal atoll.

The Octopus, designed by the famed Espen Oeino, features two helicopters, two submarines, seven tenders, a swimming pool and a basketball court. As we reported back in October, Allen has snagged the biggest berth at the upcoming London Olympics for the Octopus, which will lord it over the other superyachts moored in the Thames. Allen, a music buff, recently lent the vessel to Mick Jagger for top secret recording sessions with his new group SuperHeavy, as we noted in September.
