Gucci G-Timeless Diver Watch

Gucci delivers another entrant into the dive watch realm – well a fashion dive watch at least. This looks like the perfect sporty note to reside on your wrist while holding a Louis Vuitton bag. Heavens, what am I saying? I mean a Gucci big. Ironically called the “G-Timeless Diver” the nice looking piece has undeniably Italian style to it. Though how about calling it “G-Timer, or G-Time.” Then just to confuse you the dial says “Gucci Sport.”Anyhow, the case is 44mm wide in steel. As you can see there is a brushed steel model as well as PVD black coated steel model. Both benefit from playing with Gucci’s signature red and green color palette.

The case is suitably a diver with a rotating bezel and wide metal bracelet. None of it is particularly unique, but the combo of elements is appealing and well-done. Things shine on the dial which is either silver and green or red and black. I have a feeling that black dial with red hour indicators and hands look will be a hit. The textured dial interior that looks almost like quilting in fun. Aside from hands which are too short, this is a winning look. Inside the watch is a Swiss Ronda quartz movement with the time and date. At 100 meters of water resistance the piece should be durable enough, but 200-300 meters of water resistance is more what I am looking for in watches with any serious dive watch cred.

The Gucci name will help push these pieces pretty far. Gucci has done well with their timepieces, and attached to any of them is a brand-name premium. These quartz based watches will retail for $995 – $1,150. Nice, but $1,000 nice? Depends on how much you like that Gucci name on your wrist.
