The latest addition to the line-up is the multi-gem chipset by jewelry firm STÅHL. Of course, we wouldn’t normally let simple poker accessories onto JamesList, but this set melted our hearts instantly. What’s so special about it? Well, a few things. Most notably…
The concept is based on an asteroid that circled around in our universe for billions of years before landing in northern Sweden approximately 800.000 years ago and thus becoming a meteorite. An ancient remain from Big Bang that is now exhibiting its uniqueness in “The Meteorite Set”. This is the closest mankind ever gets to the cooled core of a planet. In the production of the chips a solid piece of Muonionalusta meteorite has been used. Its original weight was 13,7 kg.
That’s right: every single chip, other than being encrusted in all sorts of gemstones (diamonds, Burmese rubies and Sri Lankan sapphires to name a few) and cased in 18k white gold, contains a calibrated circular slice of Muonionalusta meteorite exhibiting the unique “Widmanstätten” pattern.
The set comes in a leather briefcase, the exterior of which is Swedish calf skin while the interior is made of reindeer calf suede. The metal details is also 18k white gold. On the lid, inside the briefcase, a large circular slice of Muonionalusta meteorite can be found. It was cut from the same piece of rough that was used in the gaming chips.
