The watch that dwarfs Stallone on James

In the 1990s, Panerai practically launched the huge watch trend with far-reaching consequences, emasculating those of us with more slender builds for years to come. Sylvester Stallone, with years on the HGH rollercoaster under his belt, showed no fear and quickly jumped on the Panny steam train. With the larger models being in the 47mm area, it takes quite a wrist to not look like a child who’s wearing his dad’s timepiece.

The talk of the town among watch lovers has been about the prophesized return to smaller sized watches. While Panerai has marketed a downsized 40mm watch – possibly towards mostly ladies – they’ve done so with limited success. Instead, they released a limited edition of what they do best: arrogantly huge monstrosities. The PAM341, or the Egiziano, is a reproduction of a 1950s diver issued to the Egyptian navy (take a look at an original example here) which is no picknick: this beast, a limited edition run of 300, is an always comically 60mm. You could ostensibly kill a man with it. However, it’s not as unbearably heavy as you’d imagine: the case is thankfully made out of titanium. On the inside, you’ll find Panerai’s own cal P2002 movement with eight days worth of power reserve.

We respectfully think that not even Sly is big enough for this one, what about you? The Egiziano’s listed for £24,500 right here on James. Embedded below is a video for a better perspective on the impressive size.
