At 289 ft., the amazing Maltese Falcon is the world’s largest, best designed, and most expensive sailing yacht – for now. It’s builder Perini Navi is now hard at work on a much larger sailing megayacht, a 335-ft. craft dubbed the C.2157 (above). Similar is styling to the Maltese, the 335-footer also has three enormous self-standing, rotating masts masts and will be equipped with an even more impressive version of Perini Navi’s revolutionary carbon fibre DynaRig sailing system. Topping the Maltese’s 15 sails and 25,791 sq. ft. sail area, the 335 will be capable of a maximum speed of 19.5 knots despite its impressive size.

Look for the 2,700 ton yacht with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure to equal if not better the Maltese’s 10-day Atlantic crossing time despite her extra 46 feet. Perini Navi has not disclosed which of the world’s billionaires commissioned the craft – who else could afford the hundred of millions of euros it’s going to cost – but it will no doubt have opulent fittings and finishes galore throughout its five decks, including two contoured sets of stairs wrapping around the buttress of the aft mast while descending towards the aft of the main deck. Of course there will be room for more than the Maltese’s 12 guests in the luxurious staterooms in addition to what’s sure to be one hell of an owner’s eye-popping master suite.

I am sorry to pour cold water onto your story but Perini Navi deny it is true. They state that the yacht is not in build and that at this stage, it is nothing more than a project. But thanks for letting us know of the possibilities.

Due to the physics of ship hydrodynamics, the longer a sailboat is, the faster she is capable of going. So to say that she will be fast “despite her extra 46 feet” is incorrect. She will likely be faster BECAUSE of her extra 46 feet. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Froude_number for an explanation.
