Zurich based Maurice de Mauriac has just released some preview images of the upcoming Le Mans version of their Chronograph Modern watch. It features a retro racer style dial, and many styles of colorful NATO straps. The look is actually pretty cool, in a youthful, cafe racer type of way. It would be neat to have a series of these NATO straps that you could swap out depending on the rest of the colors you are wearing.
The Chronograph Modern watch collection comes in a number of styles – in at least three case sizes. I am not sure what sizes will be available for the Le Mans edition. The sizes tend to be 39, 42, and 45mm wide. The Le Mans case comes in DLC black or brushed steel, with a light colored, textured dial. The subsidiary seconds hand has the car number “53″ and the pictured dial has French flag toned racing stripes down the face of the watch. The use of applied metal hour (minute) indicators is attractive and helps add depth to the dial. Note the skeletonized subsidiary dial hands. Use of black colored day and date discs match the black case nicely.

Legibility is good, and the looks of this watch are impressive as an additional Chronograph Modern style option. Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement that comes with a few options by Maurice de Mauriac. As a maker of customizable watches, I anticipate the Chronograph Modern Le Mans to have a number of interesting options. Not sure about availability, but I anticipate the price to be in the $4,000 – $5,000 range.
