Summer is of course regatta season and so we have another entrancing event to fill you in about. On June 8 – 12 luxury Italian clothing brand Loro Piana, known for the world’s finest cashmeres, will once again stage its Superyacht Regatta in Sardinia. Sponsored by Perini Navi and hosted by the famed billionaire’s haunt Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, last year’s winner, Royal Huisman’s 32-metre Gliss, will defend her title against several sailing superyachts looking to pluck the prize from her grasp during five intense days of competition.
Chief among them is the 33-metre sloop Wally B (above) designed by Luca Brenta, which is sure to win the prize for best looking boat in any case. Also among the contenders will be Southern Ocean Marine’s 32-metre Liara; the 30 metre, Frers-designed Wally Dark Shadow; the Dubois-designed, Fitzroy built 45-metre Salperton IV; Perini Navi’s 45-metre P2; and more yachts measuring 24 metres and up. Apres-sailing there will be an owner’s dinner at the yacht club and a beach party at the opulent Hotel Romazzino.
