Forbes showcases top ten most expensive cars, seven available on James
Don’t you just love lists? I’m not sure why, but there’s just something really neat about lists. Especially in the luxury world, where things, far too often, are measured towards one another with reference to their prices. Personally, I think it’s rather silly to just look at the price tag. After all, you do not always get what you pay for – or more specifically, you get other things that what you might think. Not that it always matters, I think a lot of people are fine with paying for brand recognition when they buy a Rolex for instance. At the end of the day, we pay premium for different reasons.
Anyhow, Forbes recently released a pictorial containing the top ten currently most expensive cars. The caveats? The cars need to be street legal and currently in production. Currently, seven of these (eight if you’re a bit more liberal) are available on JamesList. The quoted price comes from the Forbes article, which means that the price of the car at JamesList might differ. From ten to one, the cars are as follows:

10. SSC Ultimate Aero – $740,000. No surprises here, the fastest production car of 2008 – 1287 hp! Shelby SuperCars themselves have made a fine example available on James.

9. Leblanc Mirabeau – $765,000. My countrymen over at Koenigsegg made the engine in this baby. It was designed for the Le Mans but is still street legal.

8. Koenigsegg CCX – $1.1 million. There are several CCX’s currently available, like this navy one in Sweden.

7. Koenigsegg CCXR – $1.3 million. At the moment there’s no regular CCXR on James, but considering what the list #1 is, it probably doesn’t matter. Upon its release, the CCXR was called the world’s first green supercar, as it had the capability of running on E85 and E100 Biofuel.

6. Maybach Landaulet – $1.4 million. A black example can be found here, located in Germany. An unique blend of comfort and performance, the Landaulet features a closed-off chauffeur compartment, while the passenger is free to open the roof and let the sun shine in. With the V12 twin-turbo engine, it still does 60mph in just 5,2 seconds.

5. Lamborghini Reventon – $1.42 million. Ah, the mysterious Reventon. Only twenty were made, and a surprising amount have made their way to JamesList. Number three, for instance, is located in California.

4. Lamborghini Reventón Roadster – $1.56 million. Our German friends over at Amian Cars have impressively managed to get their hands on one of these.

3. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster – $1.8 million. With a production of just five, chances are these will end up in the hands of a lucky, lucky collector somewhere.

2. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport – $2 million. This one seems a little easier to get ahold of, with 150 being made – one of which have turned up right here.

1. Koenigsegg Trevita – $2.21 million. Koenigsegg mostly turned up in the media last year in regards to their failed acquisition of SAAB, but the Trevita managed to gather a lot of attention on its own. A special edition version of the CCXR, we wrote an article that features the Trevita a month ago. Read more about it here, and take a look at the car here.
