While you can spend a fortune on a race themed watch, you aren’t required to do so. At under $500, Christopher Wards C70 collection is solid thirst quencher when it comes to offering a good design, level of quality, and race oriented features. This new special edition version of the C70 is made for the Aston Martin DBR1, and features a bezel in “British Racing Green.” A specific hue so popular, it is right away associated with English motorsports.
The C7o is in steel and 42mm wide with a sapphire crystal, and Swiss quartz chronograph movement. The dial feels retro racing inspired but is impressively designs for a timepiece in this price range. More green is used on the dial mixed with white and a hit of sporty yet. Matching it to a brown, perforated leather strap was a good idea. The retro looks are no accident, as the watch is meant to celebrate an Aston Martin Le Mans race victory in 1959.
A popular range for Christopher Ward, the C70 line benefits from various special edition models for Le Mans, and other famous race events. While the dial looks complex, it is very straight forward in function – which is a value I highly respect. Price is fair at $460, and you can get one available direct from Christopher Ward.
