Our old friends at Dartz, the over-the-top Russian luxury SUV maker and marketer of extremely odd ideas in automotive design, is not known for its restraint. Having wrung the last gasp of publicity out of the Monaco Red Diamond whale penis leather imbroglio, they’ve now set their sights on a new project which is bound to attract the ire of Rolls-Royce. As part of a modification package for the Phantom, Dartz has replaced the marque’s storied Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament with one of their own, dubbed the Spirit of Xtasy. Depicting a couple engaged in sexual relations, it originated as Dartz’s takeoff of the iconic gold Oscar statue.

An amusing joke to be sure, as no doubt the attraction for certain Rolls owners is decidedly sexual. Even more amusing, the male figure bears a very close resemblance to dotty Dartz founder Leonard F. Yankelovich (here’s a video link that is neither safe for work or the mind for comparison – do not click). Navigate around Dartz’s sprawling website for a spell – they’re into to everything from vodka to bulletproof glass – and you’ll come across what might have been the inspiration for the cheeky ornament: several NSFW images of Yankelovich cavorting with naked women, though thankfully he at least manages to keep most of his clothes on.
