When luxury comes ‘a knockin’, A. Lange & Sohne opens their doors wide open. A recent collaboration between the famous German luxury watch brand and Paris based jewelery store Dubail has resulted in the creation of the marvelous piece unique version of the already marvelous Tourbograph Pour le Merite watch. Each watch from A. Lange & Sohne with the “Pour le Merite” label are special and limited, but this version of the watch introduces something I’ve never even seen before in A. Lange & Sohne timepiece.

For some, the diamond decoration is an assault of excess. For others, it is a tasteful way of expressing pure, unadulterated luxury in its finest form. What could be more decadent that a highly complex hand made watch, in an all white gold case and bracelet, with over 40 carats of stunning clear white diamonds? The result is practically intoxicating. Enough for countries to go to war over. At the very least, the human being who ever dares to wear this watch will be elevated to some other-worldly level for having the courage or obnoxiousness to boldly leave the house with a 1.75 million dollar watch on.

Inside the watch is pure A. Lange & Sohne. The hand made and decorated Caliber L903.0 movement is manually would, and has a tourbillon, split-seconds chronograph, and a power reserve indicator. The movement has 600 tiny pieces in it. For whatever reason the other chronograph seconds hand is missing in the image, but perhaps that is just a highly touched up rendering. The actual watch will be a Dubail, at the Place Vendome in Paris. Dubail commissioned the watch from A. Lange & Sohne, so it is possible that there is already a buyer for it. It just goes to show that even in economic times as these, luxury and wealth still find a place.
