UK-based designer Michael Leach is cooking up something cyber age worthy with the famed Blohm + Voss shipyard. Dubbed Project Orca, the 96-metre megayacht is no mere pipe dream from a design school grad student; Leach’s 67-metre Anna for Feadship, one of their largest ever, won a World Superyacht Award for best displacement motor yacht. Scheduled for delivery in spring 2010, the Orca features a futuristic exoskeletal curving superstructure, aggressive lines and innovative glazing.
While details are scarce, Leach, who designed both the exterior and interior with its enormous entertaining and private spaces, has revealed the ship will feature bespoke furniture from British firm Silverlining, with each piece handmade by a single craftsman, and stamped with their signature silver hallmark. Metrica will handle the interior execution, and Cougar Marine will provide two custom limousine tenders stored on the yacht’s sports deck. All in all, the Orca looks like something straight out of the latest Terminator movie – if, you know, Terminators went yachting.
