Now that Wiedeking has finally gotten the boot from Porsche, perhaps focus can shift to building real good-looking cars again instead of this obsession of late with watering down the brand with ugly SUV’s and saloons. With the Panamera, Porsche had the rare opportunity to start with tabula rasa and make something iconic. Instead they stretched a 911 to proportions of ridiculousness, making it so ugly even a mother couldn’t love it.

Top Gear made a nice point of Wiedeking’s moustache being the culprit behind the flawed design, comparing his appearance with that of Luca di Montezemolo of Ferrari and Stephan Winkelmann of Lamborghini, both stylish and immaculately coiffed, while Wiedeking tried his best to make a nice walrus impersonation.

Porsche is now celebrating the success of the 911 by releasing the Sport Classic, complete with ducktail,  neo-Fuchs wheels and double bubble roof similar to that of the Carrera GT. It’s Porsche Exclusive, the special inhouse customiser for lavish requests, that is responsible for the Sport Classic. With only 250 iterations to ever see the light of day, the price tag is obviously matching the tune of this instant classic.

Only hardcore Porsche nerds are expected to shell out the over €200′000 needed to grab one. With back to basics like rear wheel drive and a manual gearbox, the posers will hopefully stay the hell away. The 3.8 litre boxer six has augmented power to 403 hp (the same as the iconic 993 turbo) and the tail has been fattened to RS width. Porsche 2010 doesn’t get more exciting than this.

    @benz-master

    Why would you stick your “pecker” in any exhaust pipe?

    P.S. It dosen’t get bigger just because it turns darker. D.S.
