There are lots of models vying for the “world’s fastest electric superbike” title, but Michael Czysz’s MotoCzysz E1pc is the first whose instrument panel consists entirely of… an iPhone. We know the iPhone can track location and speed via GPS, as well as measure performance metrics like lateral G, top speed and acceleration through various apps – plus play the White Stripes – but how the hell are you supposed to work the damn thing with your gloves on? Well, we’ll just note that it’s the “world’s first digital electric superbike”, not to mention damned good-looking, and leave it at that.
In addition to chassis and suspension technology borrowed from MotoCzysz’s aborted MotoGP effort, the E1pc uses a total of 10 battery packs and three motors which are said to propel it to 120 mph in just 7 or 8 seconds – as fast as the good old gas-powered 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000. That not only makes it a contender for the wold’s fastest tag, but also puts paid to the idea that electric superbikes are silent – with all those motors and batteries the E1pc made quite a racket at its first speed trial. Or maybe that was just the iTunes.
