Ladoire Geneve Helvet Mechanic RGT

36-year-old French watch designer Lionel Ladoire is making waves with his first collection of limited edition timepieces, starring the rather verbosely-named but damned sporty-looking Ladoire Geneve Helvet Mechanic Roller Guardian Time. Set on micro ball bearings, the watch’s three revolving discs, which somewhat resemble circular saw blades, indicate hours, minutes and seconds. A large single hand displays a second time zone. The fine leather strap features either a gold or titanium dual buckle.
The back of the watch reveals the custom-made movement by ASXP Engineering, a firm that also prvides components for timepieces by Hautlence – by the way, does anyone else think this sounds alarmingly like “flatulence”? – and MCT. The micro-rotor for the automatic winding is covered by a circular disc, while the balance-wheel bridge shows the two attachments for the Moser double hairspring by Precision Engineering in Schaffhausen. Only 40 pieces will be produced in Ladoire’s first year of production.
