At the Monaco Yacht Show, Edmiston, Eurocopter and Andrew Winch Designs (AWD) just unveiled the new Eurocopter EC155 B1 Dauphin designed specially for use on luxury yachts as an alternative to traditional tenders. Powered by a medium twin-engine and fitted with an incredibly advanced auto-pilot, the exterior is meant to evoke the contours of ocean waves via curving raised polished stainless steel trim lines. “The key idea behind my concept is comfort, endless comfort, be it on land with a Range Rover, at sea with a yacht or in the air with a helicopter,” Winch declared.

He has certainly gone all out the bird, with yacht-inspired interior teak flooring, leather wrap-around adjustable “sport” seats fitted with carbon fibre back shells, fold-down central armrests, and ‘floating’ LCD screens with headphones for the ultimate in luxury transport. Eurocopter, which entered the yacht-heli market six years ago, is hoping the EC155, their first design-led project, brings in the big bucks with such bespoke touches as the yacht’s name etched in the rear windows.
