French fashion designer Christian Audigier delights in doing truly horrible things to motor vehicles. First he imposed his overwrought tattoo-inspired designs on an otherwise blameless Smart Car, then added insult to injury with an eyesore of a Lamborghini Murciélago LP640. When we tell you that the demonic Prince Marcus von Anhalt is a devoted follower of Audigier’s I’m sure we need say no more. His latest victim is a Ducati Monster 1100, a bike which seems cursed to endless awful customizations that it in no way deserves.
Yes, you guessed it – more tattoos. They might look fine on certain people’s skins, but we’ve never really seen the appeal of such designs rendered in other mediums. What’s next, automotive piercings? Anyway, back to the Ducati - a monster indeed. A hellish mixture of airbrush and vinyl was used to achieve the signature Audigier aesthetic, and a garish red and gold paint scheme predominates. A half-tiger, half-sea creature sits astride the gold leaf gas tank, which has been carefully laid and then brushed to give it a distinctive “scaly” look – so for €40,000 you can have something really fishy between your legs.
