Celebrate Audi’s 100th Birthday for €24,900 (the Car’s Extra)
For its 100th anniversary Audi have just announced a new custom-designed watch created in collaboration with Chronoswiss. Called the “Tachoscope,” it features a high-precision C. 125 caliber mechanism that measures speed as well as time. While the central dial features on the minute hand, separate dials inset on the face hours and seconds, highlighting the timepiece’s stop-watch and tachometer functions. The watch was inspired by the instrument dials on the legendary Audi-designed Auto Union racecars of the 1930s, in particular the Type C Grand Prix car,
Continuing the automotive theme, the watch’s crown is designed in the shape of a gearwheel. A window a the back of the Tachoscope provides a glimpse at the inner workings as well as an engraving marking the 100th anniversary. Only 100 numbered pieces of the exclusive watch will be made, one for each year of Audi’s existence. 65 of them will be made in finished in white gold, with the remaining 35 made of more precious platinum, and all will have black alligator straps. The white-gold watches will be priced at €14,900 apiece and the platinum at €24,900. And no, it does not come with a car – but check out the Audis on James.
