Benetti Launches 65M Silver Angel

Italy’s Benetti has just launched the new 65-metre superyacht Silver Angel from its Livorno shipyard, the first of the year. Naval architect Stefano Natucci designed the sinuous, streamlined aluminum superstructure and steel hull as well as the interiors in conjunction with London-based Argent Design. That involved some serious squandering of luxury materials: 1,200 square metres of black glossy oak and 700 square metres of marble: fine white onyx for the interior and travertine for the external areas.

No wonder the company describes it as “peculiar opulence.” The Silver Angel can accommodate up to 32 people; 14 guests are fitted into 7 cabins (2 twin, 3 double, 1 master and 1 VIP), with space left over – hell, even a little of that glossy black oak – for up to 18 crew. Meanwhile, Benetti has also announced the first hull from it’s wild new Imagination line, a 47-metre yacht built exclusively from aluminum reached Livorno last week, and is currently under fitting for its 2010 delivery date. At the moment it looks like something out of Battlestar Galactica, in a good way.
